The video units in TPSC/MAS are constructed so students receive an Introduction to each unit, followed by the Fundamental concepts, and then an Application idea/story as to how the concepts presented apply.
The written units in the Student Manual include an Overview, Learning Objectives, Concept Principle, and Key Concepts with definitions. Reflective Questions and Exercises assess personal mastery of the concepts and encourage the students to effectively apply the content. Summaries of the video content close out each unit. The manual has been laid out for both print and online editions.
Section 1: PREFACE
The Context for the Course
Segment 1: Introduction to The Pacific Institute® provides students with insight into the worldwide use of the curriculum.
Segment 2: Who, What, Why and How. These units have been established so students better understand:
- Who will benefit from their participation in the curriculum;
- What they should get out of their participation in the course
- Why this course is important to both their education and career; and
- How the content will be delivered.
Segment 3: Application Story – Into Order: Offers insights into how students will use this curriculum to help them stay in school, complete their education and graduate. It is a short story with a powerful exercise that ties directly to school issues.
[Note: This section of the text may be “covered” within the parameters of the course, if a school so chooses. Alternatively, this can be incorporated as part of the admissions or orientation process. Either way, students would have access to watch the videos outside of the “structured class time” if the school chooses to do it this way.]
